About Health Plan of Nevada

Established in 1981, and enrolling members since 1982, Health Plan of Nevada has provided residents of Nevada with affordable, high quality health care coverage as a federally qualified health maintenance organization (HMO). A subsidiary of Sierra Health Services, Inc., Health Plan of Nevada is the largest HMO in Nevada with an accreditation status of “Commendable” from the National Committee of Quality Insurance. Health Plan of Nevada gives members 24-hour access to the HPN member center, and also offers health education and wellness programs. A variety of health care workshops are offered on-site and online to more than 279,300 members. The Health Plan of Nevada provider network reaches across the state of Nevada, covering Clark, Nye, Lyon, Mineral, Esmeralda, and Washoe counties

HPN Options

Plans are offered to individuals and Medicare-eligible individuals as well as through employer groups. HPN features a wide variety of plan options in the following categories: Group HMO Plans, Group Point of Service Plans, Premium Advantage Plans, Individual HMO and POS Plans, Prescription Plans, Traditional PPO Plans, Retiree Choice Plans and the Medicare-risk program called Senior Dimensions.

Health Plan of Nevada's Group HMO Plans are considered the most cost-effective and flexible plans that HPN has to offer. There are five plans under HPN Group HMO Plans including the A5 Medical Plan, B10 Medical Plan, C15 Medical Plan, D20 Medical Plan, and E25 Medical Plan. With each plan, members do not have to hassle with claim forms, there are no deductibles, and co-payments are affordable. Members will pay a set fee (as outlined in each plan) per doctor visit, per admission, for medical services, hospital services, physician surgical services, and emergency services within or outside the service area.

The 2006 Retiree Choice Plan is offered through employers. Retiree Choice Plan members are covered for unlimited hospital stays, and there are no claim forms to fill out. In addition, there are no annual maximums for formulary or preferred list prescriptions. The Retiree Choice Plan also offers coverage for plans including but not limited to: mental health care, home health care, hospice care, outpatient hospital care, emergency service worldwide, short-term rehab, chiropractor services, vaccines, and routine physical exams.

Health Plan of Nevada also offers an Individual Dental Plan. The Individual Dental Plan has a calendar year maximum of $1,000, without charges for dental services such as routine exams, cleanings, or x-rays. It offers low-cost fees for fillings ($10), oral surgery ($10 to $25), root canals ($75), and under $250 for dentures, inlays, and crowns.
